Let me add post #1 to this section.
I found this through Arnies. It is the most extensive test i've seen so far on bb's. You may have already seen it before but take a look if you have about an hour to kill. And if you don't, then go straight to the conclusion

Some conclusions: Some hop up is good. Use .25 instead of .20 at greater than 100ft, before 100ft, the bbs will get there at the same time and have the same trajectory. At 100 ft, even a 400fps bb is going around 100fps. So if you are sure you made that long shot and the other guy didn't call it. Maybe he (or she) really didn't feel it. |

| cool read, i like how they actually tested that, i hear it all the time, "i shot that guy and didnt call his hits" i never thought about the bb's traveling speed at long distence. i feel kinda like"duh, that makes sense" |
