<  Technical help  ~  outer barrel removal on URX

Joined: 17 Jul 2007 Posts: 263 Location: at a table fixing guns....
anyone know how to remove the outer barrel on a SR25 URX. im having some trouble removing the RIS front to change the outer barrel. could anyone tell me how to remove it without breaking(i was told to hammer something until it loosens, but i feel like i might break it) or know someone who can remove it for me to show me how to remove it please.

Maybe you should try the advice you were given, but use a rubber mallet instead of an actual hammer. The force in a rubber mallet is less than the force in a hammer when both are swung with equal strength. Also, the rubber hammer will absorb some impact from whatever it is that you're trying to loosen. Try it. Try using a rubber mallet to hammer a nail in and try doing the same thing with a real hammer. It'll take longer with the rubber mallet. Guaranteed. So, try the advice given to you, but use a rubber mallet. Let me know if you need one. I have one at home.

yes please~! if I may borrow yours~ I don't have a rubber mallet here(though I should get one). and how much does a rubber mallet normally cost?

I believe rubber mallets cost the same as hammers... maybe a little cheaper. I got mine when I bought my mechanic's set of tools. I'll bring it on Sunday and give it to you along with your copy of Resident Evil 5.
